- Keeping bin lids sealed properly – even small gaps give easy access to pests
- Where it is possible, keep bins away from the windows and doors – out of sunlight if possible
- Keep only food waste and general waste in the correct areas
- Try not to leave leftover food lying around and make sure food is regularly cleared up or disposed of
- Conduct a pest control investigation to see if any pests have made their way in whilst the place has been unoccupied
